The original bathroom felt confined and clinical, lacking both the aesthetic personality the client wanted and the practical safety features needed for long-term comfort. The emotional goal was to transform the space into a soothing, high-end sanctuary that felt reminiscent of a premium coastal resort, while subtly and seamlessly integrating accessible design elements so the space remains functional and safe for years to come.
Key Design Features
Breathtaking Ocean-Blue Porcelain Onyx Walls: We lined the expansive shower enclosure with large-format porcelain tiles that perfectly mimic the fluid movement of natural blue onyx. The deep seafoam and teal tones are contrasted by striking copper-gold veining, completely elevating the room's visual drama.
Terracotta Accent Niche: To provide a bold pop of warmth against the cool aquatic tones, we built an extra-wide storage niche lined with glossy terracotta subway tiles. This unexpected pairing brings a beautiful, earth-toned balance to the center of the shower.
Matching Hexagonal Mosaic Shower Floor: To guarantee optimal drainage and essential slip resistance without sacrificing style, we carried the ocean-blue palette down to a custom hexagonal mosaic tile floor. The multi-tonal small tiles offer excellent grip while echoing the organic patterns on the walls.
Discreetly Integrated Universal Accessibility: We designed this bathroom to support long-term independence without feeling institutional. The space features a low-profile shower threshold for easy entry, securely mounted brushed chrome grab bars that blend effortlessly with the luxury plumbing fixtures, and a warm wood shower bench.
Cohesive Slate Blue Vanity Zone: Beyond the shower, we grounded the room with a rich slate blue custom vanity accented by clean modern hardware. This color coordinates beautifully with the vibrant custom-framed mirror above, all tied together by a warm wood-look plank tile floor that brings an earthy texture to the entire layout.
